Beretta APX RDO Full Size 9mm Pistol
The Beretta APX RDO is an evolution of the popular APX striker fired duty pistol, giving shooters the ability to easily mount a red dot optic directly onto the slide. Building on the modularity that made the standard APX line so popular, this model adds a factory slide cut designed to accept a range of optic footprints.

The included optic plates support mini red dot optics from EOTech, Trijicon, Crimson Trace, and many other manufacturers, and a fixed plate is also included to cover the slide cut for shooters who prefer to run the pistol without an optic. This flexibility makes the APX RDO a strong choice for shooters who want the option to add or remove a red dot as their needs change.
Optic Ready Design of the Beretta APX RDO
The defining feature of the APX RDO is its factory slide cut, engineered to accept one of four different optic plates depending on the red dot the shooter chooses to run. This eliminates the need for aftermarket milling or adapter plates, which are often required on pistols not originally designed with optics in mind.
Because the slide cut supports optics from multiple manufacturers, shooters have the freedom to select the red dot that best fits their preferences rather than being locked into a single brand. When an optic is not in use, the included fixed plate keeps the slide cut covered and protected.
Ergonomics and Handling Features
Beyond its optics compatibility, the APX RDO carries forward the ergonomic strengths of the APX platform. Interchangeable backstraps allow shooters to customize the grip to their hand size, while aggressive slide serrations improve purchase when racking the slide, whether hands are dry, wet, or gloved.
The ambidextrous slide stop and reversible magazine release make the pistol equally accessible for left and right handed shooters. A low bore axis helps manage muzzle flip, contributing to faster recovery between shots and more consistent follow up accuracy.
Beretta APX RDO for Duty and Everyday Use
With a standard Picatinny accessory rail, the APX RDO supports the addition of lights or lasers alongside its optic ready slide, making it a versatile option for duty, home defense, or range use. The striker deactivator adds a layer of safety during disassembly, giving shooters confidence in handling the pistol during routine maintenance.
Combined with a 17+1 capacity, a 4.25 inch barrel, and a manageable 33.3 ounce unloaded weight, the Beretta APX RDO offers a well rounded package for shooters who want the modularity of the APX line paired with modern red dot compatibility in a full size, duty ready pistol.
