Barrel and Gas System of the DDM4 PDW

The heart of the DDM4 PDW is its 7 inch, 1:7 twist barrel, machined from chrome moly vanadium steel and cold hammer forged for long term durability and consistent accuracy. The barrel features an S2W profile, is chrome lined, finished with a mil-spec heavy phosphate coating, and has been HP and MPI tested to ensure structural integrity. 

This ultra compact platform is specifically designed for compatibility with both subsonic and supersonic 300 Blackout loads. The gas system uses a low profile gas block CNC machined from 4140 hardened steel with a matching heavy phosphate coating, running a pistol length direct impingement setup for reliable cycling.

Handling and Control Features

Daniel Defense equipped the PDW with a linear compensator that directs muzzle blast forward of the shooter rather than to the sides, improving the experience for anyone shooting nearby. Muzzle threads of 5/8-24 allow shooters to swap in a different muzzle device if desired. 

The independently ambidextrous GRIP-N-RIP charging handle accommodates both left and right handed shooters, with a body CNC machined from 7075-T6 aluminum and handles and latch machined from 6061-T6 aluminum, all secured with heavy duty stainless steel roll pins and finished in Type III hard coat anodizing.
